Do you have it installed? Do you know how to run it? Are you wondering why you aren't getting in on any of the guild events?
If you don't have Group Calendar you might be missing out on some guild events that you'd like to be getting in on. Recently I've been trying to schedule some type of event on Saturdays and Sundays. We also schedule, at least, one night of Arena for those that are into the PvP thing.
If you don't have Group Calendar installed and running, but want to get in on the events - please install it. Or, let me know why you can't have it installed and if I could put the events on the Guild Website Calendar.
Also, please...please...please...if you have it installed and are interested in doing something...create an event. As the GM I feel responsible to at least get some events scheduled, but I don't need to schedule all of them nor do I need to be involved with all of them (I like doing stuff, but hey...life happens, right?).
Please show me your interest in the guild. Show everyone else in the guild that you have an interest in doing things together as a guild by scheduling an event or two. It is actually fun to do stuff together.
If you have questions about getting Group Calendar working please ask. Or, as mentioned above, if you can't install it and want to schedule an event...put it on the calendar here on the web site and I'll include it on the in-game calendar for you.
I had a good conversation with someone recently and it got me to thinking more about our "Shift to PvE" focus we have going on right now. Now, I'll be the first to say that I am not a huge fan of running an instance. I like running an instance with a PUG even less. However, I had forgotten how much there is to know about running an instance when you do it with people that you don't know and only communicate through Party Chat with; it can be a fun and exciting challenge. It's something that we should all try to do more. For one, you're going to finish some quests and secondly, you're going to start getting some nice PvE gear. More PvE gear means being able to a better job in more instances (or money to cover your repair bill when you vendor/AH the drop).
I've been making more of an effort to run some PUGs and it has worked very well for me. I have a full set of Blues on Flasch; an actual set that gives a bonus from having the full set. This isn't an epeen moment; I just want to stress how important it can be to run these instances so that you can gear up. If you do an Armory on Flasch and then use a gear calculator site you'll see that Flasch has a few things that could stand to be replaced; but, his current gear is enough to get him into Karazhan. Most of the items Flasch is wearing are drops or reputation rewards (the Evoker's set requires Honored with several factions) and are mainly meant as PvE items. Technically I can get away with some PvP in them, but I've enchanted and put gems in them to gear him more for PvE.
What I'm getting to is this; PUG more. We will all benefit from the experience. You will not only learn some new things about your style of play, but you'll bring some helpful hints back to our guild for when we run stuff. You're going to see stuff that works or is an epic fail. That information is priceless.
Also, we need to PUG more because...well, we just don't have the balance we need, yet. And, we're not all able to be on at the same time to consistently run instances; Real Life FTW! Don't miss out on something you want to do because you're waiting for us as a guild to do it. Go PUG it and bring your experience back to the guild so that when we do run it as a guild you'll have some great advice for the rest of us.
At Taco's request I wrote up my ideas on "How to PUG" and I'd like you to look it over. Make comments, suggestions, etc.
Our shift in focus to do more PvE requires more than me just putting instances on the Group Calendar; I need you to jump in, show your interest, and help out. We've always been a guild that helps each other; so, let's learn more and share it with the group so we all get better and start moving on to the Heroics and eventually on to Kara and ZA.
We all want to have fun in WoW. We enjoy the game for various reasons, though. Personally, I enjoy PvP on my hunter (Kavik) and have a blast doing Arena (even though I get a little too into it at times) and when I'm on my mage (Flasch) I'm all about the PvE. I've experimented with PvP on Flasch and I've found that I need a lot of practice before I'm going to be anywhere near as successful with him as I consider myself to be with Kavik; and honestly, I think I'd rather focus on PvE for Flasch and do the occasional Arena.
Here is what I'd like to know about you and your game fun; what are you after for your toon(s)? I know you want to have fun; that is a given. What I'm after is this; define your fun. As we shift focus to more PvE in Second Coming the officers need to know what direction we need to go to get the maximum fun out of the game for everyone.
So, let us know. Are you after more PvE; running instances, heroics, and on up? Are you after PvP? Is it different by toon (like it is for me)? Give us some ideas so that we can maximize the fun for you and the guild as a whole.
The closer we get to having balanced groups for instances, the more we can do them. We're getting there. We're making contacts outside our guild to fill in slots when we run stuff. Our complete focus isn't completely on PvE, but we are focusing more attention on it. There are going to be some of us that are still "all about the PvP," but that doesn't mean we can't find fun ways to get that PvE balance in there, too.
Thank you for your time and please make your thoughts heard so we can continue with our shift in focus to get more PvE going in the guild.
It has been decided that we start getting a little more serious about the PvE content in WoW for our Guild. We're going to start off at a nice easy pace so I don't want anyone to think, "zOMG! We're going to raid 3 nights a week? I can't do it!" That isn't happening. For now, we're just going to start looking at doing something every Sunday at 5pm server time. If you just can never make that time let me know another time that will work for you and we'll see what can be arranged.
We still do not have a main tank or healer, but we're working on it. We're focusing on only doing the 5-man stuff at this point and then working towards the Heroics. Please make certain that you have the Group Calendar MOD installed and working if you're interested in doing this Sunday event. If you need assistance ask any of the officers (Fayina/Tyara, Snookums, or Kavik/Flasch) and they'll help you get it working.
Also, we're bringing back the Nekkid Raid. It's been a while since we've done one, so keep an eye out on the calendar for this fun guild event to make its return.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me or any of the officers.
Rbgh sent a suggestion to get an RSS feed on the site. So, I looked in the plugins on the site...and...lo and behold...there it was, an RSS Plugin. So, it is now enabled. You can subscribe to Comments, Downloads, and News, for our guild website. I should have enabled this a while back, so thanks to to Rbgh for getting me to do it.
